Description

Sh2-101 is a H II region emission nebula located in the constellation Cygnus. It is sometimes also called the Tulip Nebula because it appears to resemble the outline of a tulip when imaged photographically. It was catalogued by astronomer Stewart Sharpless in his 1959 catalog of nebulae. Wikipedia
Distance to Earth: 5,871 light years
Size: 70 light-years across
Equipment used: Celestron Evo 8" SCT on AVX mount, with ZWO 294MC Pro main cam and ZWO 120mini guidecam, 60mm guidescope, ASI Air Plus, Optolong L enhance filter, ZWO EAF, Bathinov mask, dew heater straps and powered by two Jackery units. Last night, epic data acquisition for 4 hours, yielded 4 full targets worth of data, and for Crescent nebula:
5 x 120sec light subs
20 x 180sec light subs
30 darks and 30 flats
Pre and Post processing done in Pixinsight, with touch-ups in Paintshop pro for clarity and vibrancy. Two versions, original stars deemphasized and Stars-less, enjoy!
Note: Very slight star trails due to guidescope flexure, DST vs SDT mismatch, or guiding rate (1X vs 0.5X) mismatch. Troubleshooting is underway on an earlier post and will update with resolution results.
